Manchester City are eyeing Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, and could reportedly beat Arsenal and Chelsea to his signature.

There’s a transfer window coming up, and Riyad Mahrez is still at Leicester. That only means one thing. Inevitably, the Algerian is being linked with a move to several clubs.

This time, The Sun have linked him with a move to Manchester City, although they’re keen to stress that Arsenal and Chelsea are interested, too. The report claims Mahrez would ‘add dynamism from City’s bench’, as if he wouldn’t want to be starting every week.

Mahrez wanted to leave Leicester in the summer to join a bigger club, but the Foxes’ £50m price tag put off any would-be buyers. He’s starting to find some form for Leicester again though, which could see bids coming in.

This season, he has two goals and 5 assists in 12 appearances in the Premier League. The 26-year-old is valued at £27m, but it’s likely that Leicester would ask for much more than that, especially if City do have a genuine interest.

In Arsenal’s case, it’s the usual story. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could be leaving so they’ll need to sign a replacement. Mahrez is the go-to name for the press when it comes to replacements, but we’ll see if anything actually happens in January.
