Jakub Jankto is no longer being targeted by Juventus, leaving Arsenal as front-runners to procure his signature.
Calciomercato say that despite links to Juventus, Arsenal and AC Milan in the past, the Italian clubs have cooled their interest in the player. He’s now most likely to move to the Premier League. The Gunners have been monitoring the 21-year-old for several months.
Following a loan to Ascoli in 2015/16, the Czech Republic international made his breakthrough into the Udinese first-team last season. After 29 Serie A appearances, the player was linked to Arsenal over the summer, admitting to supporting the Gunners and Juventus as a child.
Nothing ended up happening, as Arsenal made the decision not to sign a midfielder, but Jankto has continued his good form in the current campaign. With two goals and two assists in eleven starts, now playing largely on the left side of midfield, the Udinese man is impressing onlookers in his new position.
Arsenal now appear to have a free run at Jakub’s signature, with the only real sticking point being his contract that won’t run out until 2021. It puts Udinese in a strong negotiating position, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
