Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of former Barcelona Director of Football, Raul Sanllehi.

The Gunners have brought Sanllehi on board to help completely restructure their scouting and recruitment system.

And since the former Barca man, who left the Catalan giants on Monday, is the person credited with securing the signings of Neymar and Luis Suarez, I’d say we’re in pretty good hands.

Sven Mislintat was brought in last week as Arsenal’s new head of recruitment. The former Borussia Dortmund talent-spotter found the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Shinji Kagawa for the Bundesliga team.

Dortmund’s Michael Zorc, who helped develop Marco Reus, was also said to be coming to north London in the near future.

The new appointments seem to be part of a massive backroom shake up, which started over the summer. We brought in Jens Lehmann as a first team coach and fitness guru Darren Burgess.

These changes mean that Arsene Wenger can concentrate on being a football manager, rather than Director of Football and coach rolled into one.

It also means the Gunners have started preparing for life after the boss leaves. It seems as if we’re building the foundations at least so a new manager can be introduced as seamlessly as possible.
