Liverpool and Arsenal are set to battle it out for Julian Draxler’s signature, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly prepared to move the player on in January.

Previously, Draxler has stated that he’s not thinking about leaving PSG in the next two transfer windows. He’s a regular in the first-team, and the side are doing very well in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, so it’s hard to see why he’d seek an exit.

According to the Mirror, however, the Parisians are considering a sale. The reason being that the club are reportedly struggling to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, after signing Neymar and committing to the purchase of Kylian Mbappé next summer.

Draxler appears to be the one chosen to move on, with Arsenal and Liverpool both interested. Quite why Liverpool would need yet another winger, I’m not sure. They bought Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over the summer, and have the likes of Sadio Mané and Philippe Coutinho as wide options in their front-three as well.

Personally I’d recommend they look at the other end of the pitch. As for Arsenal, if Alexis Sanchez leaves then the Gunners will need to make a signing, as none of the alternatives at the club have ever been prolific scorers. If Draxler is available, I’d expect Wenger to consider him.
