Arsene Wenger is convinced that Arsenal’s recent victories have proven their critics wrong.

Wenger hailed his team’s ‘mental strength’ (sigh) following their fight-back against Swansea on Saturday afternoon. In fact, he believes that their ability to overturn results recently has proven their naysayers wrong.

“Again we have showed the mental strength to come back and win the game,” said Wenger post-match.

“I’m convinced that we have proved people wrong at Everton, Norwich and today and that can only make the team stronger.”

As Wenger points out, Arsenal have fought back from going 1-0 behind against Everton, Norwich and now the Swans.

It’s great and all – it’s nice to win – but I think most Gooners are concerned by Arsenal consistently going a goal behind in the first place. If Arsenal defended properly and were sharp throughout each match, there wouldn’t have to be any need to overturn results.

I’d also have to disagree with the boss that Arsenal winning a few matches is really answering their critics. In order to do that, the Gunners need to be consistent throughout an entire season and actually challenge for the title. Most critics don’t deny that Wenger’s side can be one of the best when in form but it’s the dips that seem to outweigh the peaks at the moment.

November will be the real test for Arsenal. They travel to Manchester City next weekend before hosting Spurs after the interlull.

The Gunners are currently fifth in the table but it could get a lot worse very quickly if they lose those two fixtures.
