Arsenal are preparing a bid for Ipswich Town midfielder Tristan Nydam, according to reports.

Tristan is just 17 years old, and comes from Zimbabwe, but he’s already broken into the Ipswich Town first team in the Championship.

Arsenal are apparently now interested, and the midfielder only has 18 months left on his contract, so Sports Illustrated and The Zimbabwe Mail are reporting that they could be about to make a move.

However, both articles cite a report in The S*n for the rumours, so perhaps supporters should wait for some more concrete evidence before getting too invested in the possibility of a move.

Nydam made his debut in the EFL Cup in August, playing 63 minutes of a match against Luton Town.

The defensive midfielder impressed so much that he was given a start in the league against Barnsley, although he only lasted 45 minutes of that appearance.

However, he’s pushed on since then and made eight starts in all competitions, and a further four appearances from the bench.

Nydam has also made his debut for the England u18s and u19s in the last seven months.

If he continues his current rise through the rankings for club and country, it wouldn’t be surprising if a Premier League club looked to bring him in before long.

Whether that club is Arsenal, we’ll just have to wait and see.
