Theo Walcott could end up leaving the Gunners in January unless he significantly improves in the coming months, according to reports.

The Daily Star claim that West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton are all interested, and even Southampton could be open to a transfer. It’s certainly no surprise to see Crystal Palace on the list, as they went yet another game without a goal at the weekend. They desperately need anyone who can score.

Although the overwhelming tone of the Daily Star article is that Walcott needs to step up his game if he wants to stay, Theo has actually had a pretty good run of form in recent weeks.

Against FC Köln, his first start of the season, Walcott assisted Bellerín to help make it 3-1. Then against Doncaster Rovers he scored the winner. After that Theo bagged a brace against BATE Borisov.

The standard of opposition clearly hasn’t been very high, but as they say, you can only beat who you’re up against, and three goals and an assist in three starts is a very promising start to the season.

But even when he is scoring and assisting, you still get the impression that many fans want him to offer more, and be even more clinical than he has been.

It may be a no-win situation for Walcott with the fans at this point.

As long as he’s playing, I don’t expect him to risk a transfer in a World Cup year, but if he starts to be left out more, then I think a move is very possible.
