Borussia Dortmund winger, Marco Reus, is reportedly set to snub Arsenal and Manchester United in favourite of extending his contract with the Bundesliga club.

Arsenal and United have both been linked with Reus. However, according to the Sun, the 28-year-old is set to extend his current contract with Dortmund.

The German club’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, claims: “We see Marco with us in the long run.”

Considering Alexis Sanchez and potentially Mesut Ozil are set to leave Arsenal in January, Reus could have been a fantastic addition to the Gunners’ starting XI.

The Germany international currently has just under two years left on his current deal with Dortmund and considering how talented Reus is, it’s not hard to assume that they’ll be trying to tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible. Whether he wants to stay put is another issue.

Reus has been at Dortmund since 2012 when he signed from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Last season, his campaign was marred by injuries and he only ended up playing 17 times in the Bundesliga, scoring seven goals and assisting four. He’s yet to make an appearance this term after rupturing his cruciate ligament.

Therefore, you can imagine that he might want to stay put until his body has completely recovered. Signing a new deal also shows loyalty and gratitude to the club for sticking by him.
