Paris St. Germain would be willing to swap Julian Draxler for Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Star.

Alexis was the subject of interest from PSG during the summer, and the French club are said to still be keen to sign him.

According to a so-called exclusive from the Daily Star, PSG would be willing to swap long-time Arsenal target Julian Draxler to get Alexis in January.

They don’t explain why PSG would want to do that, nor do they consider that swap deals are very rare in football.

PSG already have a loaded frontline. It speaks volumes that Draxler, who has rediscovered his best form, is no longer a guaranteed starter for them. Alexis would hardly be a priority.

Other than to head off any competition, there’s no reason why PSG wouldn’t just wait until the summer and sign Alexis on a free transfer.

If Draxler then wants to leave, they’ll be able to secure a large fee for him.

It would be very convenient if Arsenal could get Draxler in exchange for a player who wants to leave the club.

Unfortunately, the transfer market doesn’t work like that. Chances are, if Arsenal want Draxler they’re going to have to pay up for him – after they lose Alexis for free.
