Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning to make a bid for Alexis Sanchez in January, taking advantage of Manchester City’s plan to wait for the summer.

PSG are ready to offer £26.5m for Alexis in the winter window, according to the Express. That would be a decent price for the Gunners, considering the French club could sign a pre-contract with the Chilean in January and pick him up for free in the summer.

Manchester City are planning to wait until the summer as they don’t want to give Arsenal anything after the deadline day fiasco, as per our previous report. But, as I mentioned at the time, that leaves any number of clubs free to negotiate for the forward instead, which is exactly what seems set to happen.

If Alexis isn’t going to sign a new deal with the Gunners, and that doesn’t seem likely at this stage, then the best the club can hope for is as many teams interested as possible, to drive the price up.

Sanchez could help too, by putting in a few performances of a higher standard than the drab display against Swansea last week.

Not only would that generate interest, but it would also help Arsenal get some points on the board before they lose him.

Hopefully he’s in the mood for an audition this weekend against Manchester City, rather than just rolling over for them like the Ox did at Liverpool.
