Mesut Ozil has reportedly been in contact with Jose Mourinho over a January move.

Ozil’s reported move to United is one of the strangest rumours of the season so far. Mostly because it keeps changing.

The latest claim from Manchester Evening News is that the playmaker is in contact with Mourinho, who he has a ‘special relationship with’.

“I know he is always in contact with Mourinho because he likes him. He thinks he is the best coach he every played for. He has a special relationship with him,” said the source.

Notice how the ‘source’ doesn’t actually say Ozil’s in contact with Mourinho over a move. Just that they’re in contract, which makes perfect sense seeing as the Portuguese coach wrote the introduction to the German’s autobiography.

Arsene Wenger’s still in contact with Samir Nasri but I don’t see them reuniting any time soon.

Last week, another ‘source’ told the Sun that the ex-Real Madrid star was annoyed by all the current speculation over his future, that he didn’t want to become the highest paid player in the Premier League and he isn’t desperate to leave Arsenal. Nor has he apparently been going around telling his teammates that he’s off to Manchester, which would be a weird move anyway.

The Manchester Evening News’ report claims that the 29-year-old currently earns £154k-per-week, which is slightly more than many outlets say, and that he wants a 30% increase to £202k. This is a lot less than he’s been previously rumoured to be demanding, which makes this figure seem more plausible.

Ozil apparently also wants Jack Wilshere’s no.10 shirt if he stays at Arsenal.
