Mesut Ozil could reportedly hold the key to Alexis Sanchez’s future at Arsenal as the club will apparently only sell the Chilean in January if they keep the playmaker.

The Daily Star understands that Arsenal don’t want to sell both Alexis and Ozil in January.

As it stands, the chances of a big club coming in for the German look slim seeing as, even in the press, there haven’t been a huge amount of rumours linking him with other clubs.

Interest in Alexis is high, however, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain allegedly ready to come in with £20m bids.

This means that the Gunners will probably cash in on the 28-year-old in January and make Ozil see out his contract.

This could obviously change if a serious contender comes in for Ozil. But that’s not looking as if that will happen.

Manchester United, Inter Milan, Fenerbahce and Barcelona have all been linked with the playmaker but there’s not been a lot of substance behind the claims.

Neither Alexis or Ozil have really looked like they want to be at Arsenal this season. Even though the German, who turned 29 on Sunday, was originally thought to be staying.

If Arsenal do decide to cash in on the Chilean in January, it remains to be seen whether they’ll replace him straight away or wait until next summer.

Thomas Lemar, Riyad Mahrez and Julian Draxler have all been linked.
