Alexandre Lacazette can just have just as much success as Karim Benzema, according to Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has a developing partnership with Lacazette, following the Frenchman’s arrival from Lyon in the summer.

The two, along with Alexis Sanchez, linked up to great effect in the 5-2 win over Everton. Ozil set-up Lacazette for the third goal of the game.

They were less effective in the 2-1 win over Swansea, where Lacazette failed to get on the scoresheet.

Nonetheless, Ozil is backing the striker to have as much success as Lyon’s other great home-grown forward: Karim Benzema.

“I think Lacazette’s game is different,” Ozil to SFR Sport (via the Metro).

“But I hope he will have as much success as Benzema.

“He has his head on his shoulders, he works hard.

“I wish him to score as many goals as Benzema with the French national team.”

Ozil played with Benzema while he was at Real Madrid.

The two won the La Liga title together in 2012, and the Copa del Rey in 2011.

Lacazette wasn’t able to achieve the same success at Lyon that Benzema did, but will he hoping to win some major honours while at Arsenal.

His goals will be needed for that to happen. Five goals in 10 games has been a good start.

His recent form has earned him more starts for the France national team, where he’s in direct competition with team-mate Olivier Giroud.

The two aiming to become the starting striker for France at the World Cup in Russia this summer.
