The Evening Standard mistook a Hugo Lloris fan account for the real Tottenham goalkeeper after an Instagram post teasing Olivier Giroud came from the account.
The Standard wrote an article about Lloris teasing Arsenal’s new centurion in an Instagram post. Hugo scored a couple of goals for the French National team in training, and Instagram user “captainlloris” wrote in a post “Watch out Oli G, there’s a new striker in town” along with the videos of the goals:

The problem is that ‘captainlloris’ isn’t actually Hugo himself, but just a fan account. After the fan discovered that a whole article had been written about his joke, he posted again to point out the Lloris doesn’t actually have Instagram, and it was just a “little attempt at being funny”.

As for why Lloris has become the man up top for the French national team in training, I’m not quite sure. Perhaps Didier Deschamps is going to extremes to make certain that Alexandre Lacazette doesn’t get in the starting XI.
We’ll find out on Saturday who the French manager plans to start up front, when France travel to Bulgaria for the 19:45 kick-off. A couple of wins in their last two games and France would be guaranteed top spot in the World Cup qualifying group and tickets to Russia next summer.
