Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal will be without centre-back Shkodran Mustafi and forward Danny Welbeck for Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Welbeck has made six Premier League appearances this season, scoring three goals, but has been suffering with a hip injury in recent weeks. The 26-year-old played an hour in October’s defeat to Watford, which was his only showing for Arsenal since the middle of September.

The English international has only been on the winning side in the league for Arsenal on two occasions, the last coming in September against Bournemouth. He’s operated in a number of positions this season – a wide forward, second striker and main centre-forward.

Shkodran Mustafi has also been on the treatment table in recent weeks, making five Premier League appearances in 2017/18. He’s set to miss out on the weekend, meaning Per Mertesacker could once again get the nod alongside Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal.

Arsenal are big favourites to beat Swansea City on Saturday afternoon, even without the likes of Mustafi and Welbeck. In attack, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could start behind club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette – the trio who helped Arsenal to a 5-2 win over Everton on Sunday.
