Manchester United are reportedly scouting rumoured Arsenal target, Mijat Gacinovic.

According to the Mirror, Jose Mourinho was in Austria on Friday to scout Eintracht Frankfurt and Serbia winger Gacinovic during his side’s 3-2 loss to the hosts.

The 22-year-old played 87 minutes for Serbia but was benched for his side’s 1-0 win over Georgia on Monday.

The young attacking player has already scored twice in three appearances for his country, so it’s unlucky that Mourinho, hidden under a baseball cap at the Ernst Happel Stadion, didn’t get to witness one.

The United manager was rumoured to be watching a few players: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Andrija Zivkovic, David Alaba. However, none were actually in their respective squads. Gacinovic was.

The Portuguese coach could have allegedly been monitoring Southampton’s Dusan Tadic but the Mirror insists Manchester ‘sources’ have shot this down.

The Serbia international hasn’t just apparently been watched by Mourinho but Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also said to be heavily interested. The Gunners reportedly sent scouts to his last two international matches.

This season, Gacinovi’s made six Bundesliga appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt, racking up an assist, and one in the German domestic cup where he scored against TuS Erndtebrück.

He’s still got four years left on his current deal after joining Frankfurt from Vojvodina in 2015.
