Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the race for Leon Goretzka, according to reports.

The 22-year-old midfielder is out of contract in the summer and looks set to leave Schalke. According to Bild, Manchester United are interested in signing him in the summer for free, along with Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Gortezka has been linked with Arsenal for a while, but a move in the summer was scuppered by Schalke’s refusal to sell him. It was then reported that Bayern Munich may have reached an agreement with him to sign when his contract expired.

Goretzka remains a first-team regular at Schalke, and has scored twice in seven Bundesliga appearances so far. Arsenal could soon be on the lookout for new midfielders as a number of players at the club will be out of contract.

Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil are all on deals that will expire in the summer, with little sign on them being renewed any time soon. Signing Goretzka for free could be a very shrewd piece of business for Arsenal, in my opinion, as he’d be able to cover central-midfielder and attacking-midfield.
