Cohen Bramall played an u23 game for Birmingham on Friday night.

The 22-year-old played as a left-back as Birmingham were defeated 2-1 by Barnsley.

According to Birmingham’s match report, Bramall was part of a left hand side that “caused mayhem” for the Barnsley defence.

Birmingham found themselves 2-0 down despite creating a number of good opportunities.

A goal from Tommy Anderson turned out to just be a consolation for the home side.

Bramall hasn’t featured for the Birmingham first team since a 2-0 defeat against Reading at the end of August.

Worryingly for the 22-year-old, he’s only been in the matchday squad once since.

He was signed by Harry Redknapp on a season-long loan in the summer, but a poor run of results saw the former Tottenham manager sacked.

Redknapp was replaced by Steve Cotterill, who may be reluctant to rely on young players with Birmingham battling relegation.

The Blues are currently 21st in the Championship, with just 11 points from 12 games.

Bramall was sent on loan to gain valuable first team experience and grow accustomed to professional first team football.

His lack of football is far from ideal, and may prompt Arsenal into recalling him from loan if the situation doesn’t improve.
