Alex Iwobi has tipped Chuba Akpom to make an impact at Arsenal next season.

Iwobi broke through into the Arsenal first team during the 2015/16 season, and believes his long time friend and team mate Chuba Akpom will soon follow.

When asked which Arsenal youngster is the most likely to follow him into the first team, he said (via the Express): “You don’t know who to expect.

“You never know who is going to come through but I’d say Chuba Akpom.

“He’s next to join.

“I knew Chuba since the age of three, playing Sunday league with him and we’re still at Arsenal together.”

Akpom has made 10 appearances for the Arsenal first team but has yet to score a senior score for the club.

He’s had several loan spells over the years, but has yet to truly impress while away from the club, either.

He spent time at Brentford, Coventry, Nottingham Forest and Hull, making 79 appearances altogether but only scoring seven times.

All seven goals came during the loan spell at Hull, where he made 42 appearances.

Never say never, but the odds of him making a mark in the Arsenal first team are very small.

Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud are the first choice strikers at Arsenal and have much more experience and quality than Akpom.

On the flanks, the likes of Iwobi, Welbeck, Walcott, Ozil and Alexis are ahead of him.

Akpom is currently playing with the u23 squad ans is under contract until 2019.
