According to the Italian media, Mesut Ozil’s exclusion from the Germany squad could push him further towards an Arsenal exit.

Ozil has been left out of Germany’s squad to face Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan during their next round of 2018 World Cup qualifiers. However, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato have neglected to mention is that this is because the playmaker is currently sidelined with an inflamed knee.

Joachim Löw has confirmed this.

As Sport Witness point out, this is just the latest report from the Italian media who claim that Ozil could sign for Inter, despite it being incredibly unlikely that the Serie A club will actually be able to afford the 28-year-old’s rumoured wages.

Sure, Ozil could be leaving in January or even on a free at the end of the season given that he has under a year left on his existing deal. However, if he actually wants to move he may have to lower his wage demands.

What’s more, Inter president Erik Thohir clarified his recent comments regarding Ozil’s situation since it appears that a quote of his was lost in translation.

In fact, the Indonesian millionaire referred to the rumours as just gossip.

Therefore, if you look at the heart of the Ozil-to-Inter story, there’s not a lot of substance there at all.
