Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy reckons that Theo Walcott should consider joining Everton or Crystal Palace.
Cundy, who made 41 appearances for Chelsea between 1988 and 1992, believes that Theo needs to consider leaving Arsenal and signing for a team that actually needs him, like Everton or Palace.
“Walcott should consider Everton and also Crystal Palace,” he said.
“They are desperate for someone up top. I very much doubt he will go there, though.”
Everton are currently struggling for goals after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in the summer. So far, they’ve managed to score just four in the Premier League while shipping 12, which has left the Toffees down in 16th.
Wayne Rooney’s scored twice, as has Oumar Niasse. However, relying on the two forwards to dig Ronald Koeman’s side out of trouble is obviously proving too much of a task.
Meanwhile, Palace are doing even worse. They’ve scored zero Premier League goals so far, have let in 17 and are yet to earn a single point in seven matches.
While I don’t see Theo joining the Eagles, since it’ll be incredibly difficult to come back from their current position and I doubt he’d want to join a Championship team, Everton may be a good shout for the 28-year-old.
The forward’s yet to make a Premiership start for Arsenal and has under two years on his current deal.
Olivier Giroud revealed that he almost joined the Toffees over the summer so they’ve obviously been looking at the Gunners’ squad and potentially made contact. Perhaps there’s hope for Theo.
