There is no chance of Anthony Martial joining Arsenal in January or next summer, according to latest reports.

Martial had been touted as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez. However, according to the Daily Star, a source from Old Trafford has stated that there’s no chance of the transfer happening.

“Arsenal have no chance of getting Anthony Martial,” the source said. “He is happy at the club and even if he did want to leave, he wouldn’t be sold to Arsenal.”

Jose Mourinho has previously refused to sell players to Arsenal. While he was Chelsea manager, he prevented Demba Ba from joining Arsenal on loan, and did everything he could to prevent Petr Cech making the switch.

Arsenal and Manchester United also rarely do business together. The last transfer between the clubs was Danny Welbeck in 2014, who wasn’t rated by then United manager Louis van Gaal.

Martial had a difficult season with United last year where he wasn’t a regular for Mourinho. This season, though, he’s been a regular off the bench and has scored five goals and assisted five more.

Martial can play as a left winger or as a centre forward, and would therefore be a suitable replacement for Alexis when he leaves at the end of his contract, in my opinion.

The 22-year-old joined United in 2014 from Monaco and has made 100 appearances for the club.
