Arsenal are ready to offer Jack Wilshere a new four-year contract, according to reports.

Wilshere is fit and playing football again, and that’s been enough to convince Arsene Wenger he’s worth a new contract.

That’s according to the Mirror, who claim that Wilshere’s performances against Doncaster and BATE Borisov have convinced Wenger to offer him a new four-year contract.

Wenger has always rated Wilshere’s talent and has often lamented the injuries the midfielder picks-up whenever he’s having a good run of games.

He’s given him another opportunity to prove that he can remain fit and contribute to Arsenal’s season.

A new contract does represent a risk for Arsenal, who would be putting a lot faith in a player with rather delicate ankles and a playing style that encourages hard and heavy tackles.

However, there are encouraging signs that he’s reaching his best level again and could be a useful player for the club again.

If nothing else, a new deal would protect his value and ensure the club gets a transfer fee for him.

With Wilshere back to full fitness and pushing for a return to the Premier League starting line-up, he’ll he hoping to make England’s World Cup squad for Russia 2018.

A few days ago, Wilshere admitted that ‘of course’ he wants to stay at the club.
