Arsenal sent scouts to watch Thomas Lemar play against Bordeaux on Saturday, according to reports.

The French midfielder was in fine form as he found the net in a 2-0 victory for Monaco.

According to the S*n, Arsenal had scouts present to check up on the 22-year-old.

This suggests that Arsenal are still interested in the player, who they tried, and failed, to sign last summer.

Given that the club was prepared to spend over £90m on him, you would think they would know enough about him that further scouting wouldn’t be necessary.

Still, it’s worth keeping an eye on his form and how his game is developing after his outstanding season last year.

Lemar will be out to prove he has the consistency to replicate his form from last season, where he recorded 14 goals and 17 assists.

This season, he’s yet to reach the same heights. One goal and three assists is hardly the most explosive of starts.

There are doubts, however, about whether Arsenal will actually return for him.

Robert Pires, for example, said recently that he doesn’t think the move will happen and that Lemar isn’t worth £90m.

It’ll be interesting to see if Arsenal do try to sign him again when the transfer window re-opens in January and, if so, how much they’ll be willing to spend.
