Arsenal have denied having an agreement with Ajax director of football Marc Overmars.
On Monday, we reported that former winger and current Ajax director of football Marc Overmars had agreed to join Arsenal. Arsenal, though, have since denied any such agreement.
#afc pretty adamant no agreement has been reached for Marc Overmars to join the club in any capacity.

Overmars spent three years at Arsenal between the years of 1997 and 2000, and is fondly remembered for his vital contribution in Arsenal’s double winning season in 1997/98.
He became Director of Football at Ajax in 2012, and oversaw their transfer business as they embarked on a period of domination in the Eredivisie. Ajax won the title for four consecutive seasons between 2011 and 2014, but have since lost out to PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord.
Overmars has come in for criticism for the standard of player he’s brought in and his frugal approach to spending money. The initial report from Tutto Mercato Web didn’t specify which capacity Overmars would return to Arsenal in and it’s well-documented Arsene Wenger does not want to work with a Director of Football.
Meanwhile, changes to the coaching staff have been limited, with only Jens Lehmann being added to a very familiar team. There have been calls for Arsenal to involve more ex-players in the running of the club, but it appears Overmars will not be one of them.
