Arsenal have shipped the 10th-most Premier League goals in history but guess who’s number one?
The Gunners have allowed 919 goals into their net since the Premier League started in 1992, which makes them the 10th-most leaky club in the league.
What’s interesting, however, is that Arsenal have also scored the second-most goals ever: 1,709.
This suggests that the Gunners tend to be involved in high-scoring matches, which is great for the neutral but terrible for our fragile Gooner hearts.
Manchester City have let in the ninth-most goals (927), Chelsea have shipped 931, and Liverpool have conceded the fifth-most (998).
Amusingly, Spurs have consistently had the worst defence in the history of the Premier League. They’ve shipped 1,236 goals in total.
This makes sense because they’ve suffered the fourth-most defeats ever: 316. That’s more than Newcastle (308) and Sunderland (296). Arsenal have lost 192 times; fifth from the bottom.
Going back to goals conceded, Petr Cech has actually kept the second-most clean sheets this season (four) behind Manchester United’s David de Gea (six). He’s shipped just eight goals, which is the 72nd most in the Premier League. Not bad going.
So, while our current no.1 admittedly isn’t the safe pair of hands he once was, he’s still not half bad.
