Arsenal are preparing to give Jack Wilshere a new deal, after the Englishman’s return to the first-team.

Jack is in the last year of his deal with the Gunners, same as Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez. However, the 25-year-old’s situation hasn’t been receiving the same kind of publicity, because many feel he has to prove he can stay fit before being signed up long-term.

It seems that Arsenal have seen enough, though, because according to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are planning to sit down with Jack to negotiate a new contract over the next few weeks. The Mail write that the club are keen to get a deal done before January, when foreign clubs could start to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Wilshere.

The midfielder completed 90 minutes in his third start in a row on Thursday, also his third game in a month. Making appearances is one thing, and is clearly important if Jack is ever going to have a fully fit season playing at his best. But completing the whole match is just as important, arguably even more so.

It’s especially encouraging, then, that Wilshere’s best moment of the match against Red Star Belgrade came so late on. It was the 85th minute when Jack’s quick feet helped take him away from two defenders, before a couple of passes back-and-forth with Walcott allowed Theo to play in Giroud for the winner.

Hopefully, the England international can keep those sorts of moments coming, as doing so would certainly be worthy of a new deal.
