Arsenal are reportedly one of three teams interested in Monaco left-back Ruben Vinagre.

The Gunners have been following Vinagre ever since his performances for Portugal’s u17 side in the 2016 European Championships, claim the Daily Mail. Now on loan with Wolves, Arsenal join Manchester City and Everton in looking at the 18-year-old as a potential future signing.

So far, Vinagre has only played eight matches at senior level, all with Wolves. Despite playing at left-back, the youngster has a goal and an assist in the Championship already, so he’s made a good start to life in England.

Ruben has made 26 appearances for his country at various youth levels, but the reason he hasn’t played more senior club matches was due a failed loan to Academica de Coimbra in 2016.

Vinagre joined the Portuguese second division side in the 2016 summer transfer window, but FIFA wouldn’t sanction the deal. Rejecting all of the Portuguese player’s appeals, FIFA left the full-back no choice but to return to Monaco in January.

Now he’s getting the chance to play some senior football, and at the moment it seems to be going well. With players like Anthony Martial, Kylian Mbappé and Benjamin Mendy leaving Monaco for some of Europe’s biggest clubs in the last few years, Vinagre could well be the next if reports are to be believed.
