Arsenal are reportedly interested in swapping Alexis Sanchez with Paris Saint-Germain for Julian Draxler in January.

Alexis is in the last year of his Arsenal contract, and based on how keen he seemed to be to leave the Gunners for Manchester City over the summer, the odds of the Chilean turning round and signing a new deal with the Gunners don’t seem particularly good.

Rather than lose him to an English club, or see him sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign team in January, Arsenal are looking to get some value out of Alexis by trading him abroad, according to the Daily Mail.

Of course Alexis could just agree to join Paris Saint-Germain next summer without having to go through Arsenal, but if the French club want to bring in a player who can immediately make a difference, then a January move could make sense – considering he wouldn’t be cup-tied for the latter stages of the Champions League etc.

From an Arsenal point of view, I think it would be a fantastic deal. Alexis will soon be gone either in January or June, so replacing him with a talented forward is a bonus. Draxler is young, talented, experienced and in form from what I’ve seen.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal were the club offering some extra cash in the deal. At the moment though, Draxler is a first-team player for PSG. Unless that changes, I can’t see what would motivate him to leave.
