Arsenal could sign out-of-favour Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic, according to reports.
The Serbian has not settled well into life at Napoli and may seek a move else where to get more game time.
According to Football Italia, both Arsenal and Inter Milan are watching him as they’re looking to identify potential reinforcements in January.
Maksimovic, a centre back standing at six feet four inches, joined Napoli from Torino in 2016, but has made just 14 appearances for the club.
He has reportedly struggled with Maurizio Sarri’s tactics and has spent most of his time as backup for first choice defenders Raul Albiol and Kalidou Koulibaly.
He’s contracted with Napoli until 2021.
Arsenal will soon be in the market for a defender as Per Mertesacker will retire at the end of the season.
However, a player who is currently very out of favour with his club hardly seems like the most appealing option.
The 25-year-old made 74 appearances for Torino, having joined from Red Star Belgrade in 2013.
He managed 12 appearances in his first season with Napoli, and this has season he’s only seen the pitch twice.
He’s won 19 caps for Serbia, and was sent off in a World Cup qualifier against Ireland back in September.
