Arsenal are interested in PSV Eindhoven and Mexico striker Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano, as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez should he leave in January or next summer.

Marca claim that the Gunners are interested in a £22.4m move for Lozano, as they look to replace Alexis Sanchez’s goals. Lozano only moved to PSV over the summer so it would be a surprise to see him move on as soon as January, I feel.

However, considering the explosive start to his career in the Netherlands, it’s also hard to rule anything out. Lozano has scored six goals in six league games in the Eredivisie this season, as well as providing four assists. The only game he didn’t score in, he was sent off, so he’s written the headlines on pretty much every occasion.

Then you look at his form for the national side. In September he scored the winner for Mexico against Panama, then on Saturday he came off the bench to equalise for his country against Trinidad and Tobago, before Chicharito and Héctor Herrera won the game in the dying minutes.

So he’s a man on form, but not playing the highest standard of opposition. Perhaps someone to keep an eye on, but I wouldn’t expect a big bid from Arsenal just yet.
