Marco Reus is being watched by Arsenal and Manchester United, according to reports.

Reus was one of the best performers in Europe until a series of injury problems kept him out of action. The 28-year-old has been out since May with a ruptured cruciate ligament. Before then, he made just 24 appearances during the 2016/17 season.

Despite this, Sport Bild claim that Arsenal and Manchester United are still interested. The Gunners have been linked with Reus since he was at Borussia Monchengladbach. After scoring 33 goals in two seasons for Gladbach, he moved on to Borussia Dortmund.

Links cropped up every summer, but Reus was happy at Dortmund. He’s scored 89 goals in 189 appearances for the club. Reus isn’t expected back until 2018, and will surely take a fair amount of time to return to his best.

In my opinion, the 28-year-old would be the standard of player required to replace the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez if and when they leave the club. However, given his age and injury history, it’s likely that a big move to the Premier League has passed him by.

Reus has 29 caps for Germany, and has scored nine goals.
