Racing Club are reportedly requesting £13.5m for Arsenal-target Lautaro Martinez, after rejecting a bid of £10.3m from Atletico Madrid.

According to Spanish outlet AS via Sport Witness, the Argentinian striker is the subject of interest from Arsenal, Real Madrid, Valencia, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and AS Monaco.

Jorge Sampaoli is reportedly considering Martinez for the Argentinian national team, which makes sense considering the 20-year-old’s form for his country’s youth sides.

The young striker has made the best of his u20 opportunities, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in 11 games, including two goals in two at the recent u20 World Cup.

For his club, Martinez has scored four goals and assisted one in his last eight league games. However, he only managed one goal in the previous 11 league appearances, so at this point it’s unclear whether the recent improvement in his record is just a good run of form.

But if the teams listed above really are interested in the Argentine striker, then maybe it’s a sign that there’s more to Martinez than immediately meets the eye. Arsenal could do well to sign him.
