Arsenal could swap Alexis Sanchez and Julian Draxler in January, according to (yawn) reports.

Alexis looks set to leave the club and Arsenal would undoubtedly need a replacement.

According to Sports Illustrated, Arsenal want that replacement to be Paris St. Germain’s Julian Draxler and are hoping they can exploit the French club’s interest in Alexis.

PSG were linked with Alexis throughout the summer as they were looking to make some head-turning purchases to improve their squad.

Arsenal have had a long-standing interest in Draxler, in as much that his name has been frequently linked with the club since he emerged from Schalke’s academy in 2013.

It’d be very convenient for Arsenal if they could offload a player who doesn’t want to be at the club abroad and gain a very good player in the process.

Unfortunately, swap deals are rare in football, especially at the top level.

They require both players to agree to the idea, and while Alexis might not mind, there are few indications that Draxler wants to leave PSG, let alone for Arsenal.

Despite his starting spot being very much under threat by the signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, Draxler does still get games at PSG and appears to still be in manager Unai Emery’s plans.
