Granit Xhaka has praised Alexandre Lacazette for his performances and his goals at the Emirates so far, but says the Frenchman just has to do the same away from home.

After Arsène Wenger used his post-West Bromwich Albion press conference to say a similar thing, Xhaka echoed his manager’s thoughts on Lacazette, saying via Daily Star: “He’s an important player for us. We know his qualities and you can see that he’s ice-cold in front of goal. Now he needs to do the same away – then I’ll be really pleased.”

It wasn’t just Lacazette who Xhaka called upon to improve on the road, as he implied that the whole team could be doing better. He added: “I think with these fans behind us, we can play with freedom. At home we’re a force, you’ve seen that in the past and today, and we’re pleased to have won at home. We need to make sure we do the same away from home.”

The French international was unlucky to be denied by the offside flag against Stoke, especially when Romelu Lukaku’s goal in the same stadium was allowed to stand for almost exactly the same offside decision.

Meanwhile, though he perhaps should’ve scored against Chelsea, Lacazette only just completed 90 minutes over the two other away matches, and they weren’t exactly the easiest places to start his Premier League life. Personally, I believe the goals will come in easier away outings.

Arsenal’s next league game is a home one against Brighton, so Lacazette won’t get a chance to get off the mark in an away fixture until mid-October at the earliest. Hopefully in the meantime, the French international will continue his good run at home.

The Gunners have certainly managed to benefit from his efforts at the Emirates, winning every match at the Emirates so far this season.
