Jack Wilshere could join up with Robin van Persie at Fenerbahce in January, according to latest reports, despite the midfielder rejecting Turkish side Trabzonspor over the summer.

The England midfielder hasn’t even played a game for the Arsenal first-team since his return to North London from a loan at Bournemouth. However, talkSPORT are already reporting that Wilshere has agreed a deal in principle with Fenerbahce to move in January.

The news comes at the same time as it’s being reported by the Evening Standard’s James Olley that Wilshere rejected Trabzonspor over the summer, to fight for his place at Arsenal.

Unless there has been something dramatic to change Wilshere’s mind in the last month or so, it’s unlikely that both of these things are true. If the 25-year-old really did turn down a move to Trabzonspor to fight for his place at Arsenal, then it would be odd to agree a deal to leave for another club before he’d even played one match.

Wilshere is in the last year of his deal with the Gunners, so the rumours are only going to get stronger as the season goes on. Hopefully his performances will be enough to keep him around in North London, but we’ll have to wait and see how he does, starting with a potential Europa League game against FC Köln on Thursday.
