Jack Wilshere and Wojciech Szczesny engaged in a bit of Friday morning banter on Instagram, after Jack posted a picture from when the pair lived together.
In the Instagram post, Wilshere baited Szczesny in with the caption “tbt to the digs days and living with the mad man [Wojciech Szczesny], can’t believe he let me have my hair like this #stillbetterlookingthanhim”
Szczesny was quick to respond, asking Jack: “Was that when you were good at football?”
Jack wasn’t going to let that slide, responding: “No it was when you threw the carling cup away from us.”
Szczesny clearly thought the pair should leave it there on before things got even worse, saying: “This could well become brutal.”
Jack is of course referring to the mix-up between Wojciech and Laurent Koscielny in the League Cup final in 2011. With just a minute to go, the pair failed to communicate who should go for the ball, and as they both went for it and neither got a clean contact Obafemi Martins stole in to score and win the trophy for Birmingham.
Clearly the England international hasn’t let that one go, even now that Wojciech has left the club for Juventus, although it’s good to see the pair are still in contact despite now being in different countries.
The duo did eventually pick up a couple of trophies together, winning the FA Cup in 2013/14 and 2014/15. Although Szczesny didn’t appear for any of the cup run in 2013/14, and Wilshere only played 14 minutes of the other one.
