Arsene Wenger feels that Alexandre Lacazette wants to break goalscoring records.

Wenger’s comments come after the striker himself insisted that he wasn’t bothered by personal scoring records.

Lacazette said he was more focused on integrating well in the first team than his own personal achievements. However, Wenger believes that every striker wants to break records.

“I think every goalscorer is interested in records and I’ve not seen many who are indifferent to that,” Wenger told Arsenal.com.

“I think he is not shy on the pitch and he has adapted very well to the kind of game we want to play.

“You know we want to have the ball, we want to dictate the game, we want to combine at a quick pace. He can integrate into that kind of game very well. He looks like he is coping every week better with the physical demands of the game, so I am quite pleased.”

Lacazette became the first player since Brian Marwood in 1988 to score in his first three consecutive home games for the club following his brace against West Brom on Monday.

While his composure in front of goal has been notable, Lacazette has also impressed people with his link-up play.

The 26-year-old has shown that he’s capable of dropping deep and linking-up with his fellow attackers, not just hanging around in the penalty area waiting for chances to come his way.

Goalscoring, though, is ultimately what he’ll be judged on. It’s so far so good on that front.

Lacazette has four goals from six Premier League games and will fancy his chances of increasing that tally against Brighton on Sunday.

His target after that will be to score his first goal for the club in a game away from home when Arsenal travel to Watford after the international break.
