Arsenal forward Arsene Wenger says he has “no doubts” bringing Alexis Sanchez back into the side after the international break, after the Chilean international nearly joined Manchester City on deadline day.

Wenger was asked about Alexis’ proposed move to Manchester City that broke down at the last minute, but admitted he finds it a difficult subject to discuss.

Arsenal can’t afford any more slip-ups through questionable team selections, given the Gunners are currently 16th in the Premier League table with three points from as many games this season, having lost consecutive outings against Stoke City and Liverpool.

Alexis has been criticised for his performances for both Arsenal and Chile this campaign, resulting in him posting a defiant message against his critics in the media, but his attitude will be closely examined throughout 2017/18, as his failed move will surely affect him.

Reports emerged that his Arsenal teammates were keen to have him gone from the side, suggesting a lack of unity in the dressing room. But only time will tell if the London club can recapture their form with Alexis back in the side.

He’s expected to leave in 12 months, but whether he will give his all before he goes is another question.
