Arsenal’s Jodie Taylor and Jordan Nobbs both scored as England enjoyed a 6-0 win over Russia in the 2019 World Cup qualifiers.

Both Taylor and Nobbs scored before the half time whistle in England’s big win at Prenton Park. The former got her goal on 13 minutes, adding yet another international striker to her tally following her Euros Golden Boot win earlier this year.

Then, after Ksenia Tsybutovich was shown a second yellow card on 30 minutes, the Lionesses took the opportunity to press home their advantage. Chelsea’s Fran Kirby had missed a penalty but went on to provide the assist for Nobbs for the third goal of the game.

The team took their foot off the gas a bit in the second-half, while Jodie Taylor was an early substitution in the 65th minute, but overall it was an impressive team performance and the Arsenal women played a big part in that, in my opinion.

An emphatic win and a couple of goals is just what Taylor and Nobbs would’ve wanted ahead of the new Women’s Super League campaign, with Arsenal facing Birmingham City on Sunday at Meadow Park.

Hopefully they can carry their good form over to the club competition.
