Wojciech Szczesny could yet regret moving to Juventus with reports that the Old Lady are targeting Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak.

Szczesny left Arsenal this summer to join Juventus on the understanding that he’d take over from Gianluigi Buffon next season. However, according to Calciomercato, the Serie A giants are now interested in Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as manager Massimo Allegri likes the idea of having two number one keepers at the club.

It’s not the situation Szczesny expected, as he traded away a year as a starter so he could join Juventus. Arsenal offered little resistance to the Polish international leaving last summer. Although fans thought he could have replaced current first-choice keeper Petr Cech, Arsenal accepted a relatively modest £11m from Juventus.

Szczesny spent two years on loan at Roma before then and improved massively. The sale looked to be a big mistake from Arsenal, who could soon need a new keeper.

Arsenal have also been linked with Oblak. The 24-year-old has been impressive for Atletico Madrid and has the potential to become one of the best keepers in Europe, if he isn’t one already.

However, Calciomercato’s report does state that Atletico would demand Oblak’s full £88m release clause from any interested club.
