Jean-Michael Seri has reiterated that he will not be leaving Nice during the January transfer window.

The Ivorian has been linked with a move away from Nice when the transfer window reopens in January, with Arsenal and Barcelona thought to still be interested. However, Seri has said he has no intention of leaving Nice in the middle of the season.

“Regardless of any club asking for me this winter, I won’t leave Nice before June. The summer fallout? It will take more than that to change my mind – a top-level footballer can’t afford to continue thinking about that sort of thing. It is now history and you need to look to the future and to making history with this club.”,” Seri told Le Figaro via talkSPORT.

This echoes similar comments he made to L’Equipe, where he stressed that if he leaves Nice, it won’t be until June at the earliest. Seri was linked with Arsenal and Barcelona during the summer transfer window. However, neither club managed to land their target.

The midfielder had an outstanding season for Nice last year, as his seven goals and nine assists helped the Ligue 1 club achieve a third-placed finish and qualification for the Champions League.

Nice were eliminated by Napoli in the play-off round, and are now in the Europa League along with Arsenal. They’ve had a mixed start to the Ligue 1 season, winning three and losing three of their six games so far.

It was his form last year that attracted Arsenal’s interest. People considered him to be the ideal replacement for the injured Santi Cazorla from what I recall. If he has another good season, Arsenal could come calling again.
