Genk defensive midfielder Sander Berge doesn’t have any complaints that the club have turned down interest from Arsenal, Everton and Sevilla over the summer.

Reports claim the 19-year-old has drawn interest from Arsenal and Everton, as well as a bid from Sevilla, all of which were turned down. However, speaking to Norwegian daily VG via talkSPORT, Berge didn’t seem to have any problems with this:

“I do not know if the club have put a specific price on me, but they have been clear that they want to keep players regardless of the price to fight at the top. I think it’s nice that the club like what I’m doing,” he said.

I feel Arsenal have been having midfield problems in the first few games of the season. Although Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey look capable when facing the likes of Leicester and Bournemouth, and even looked good against Chelsea and Manchester City towards the end of the last campaign, to me they seem to have weaknesses that some teams have figured out how to exploit.

I’ve noticed when a club like Liverpool press Xhaka, and Ramsey doesn’t stay back to support the Swiss midfielder, suddenly the former becomes isolated and is forced into making risky passes that often turn over possession. Whether Berge could have solved this issue or not is debatable, but I feel Arsenal wouldn’t be wrong to look at bringing a more defensively-minded midfielder in.
