Reiss Nelson makes convincing claim for Arsenal first team with stunning free-kick v Manchester United u23s

Reiss Nelson scored his sixth goal in four Premier League 2 games against Manchester United’s u23s on Friday.

Nelson scored a stunning free-kick against United during Arsenal’s 2-0 win.

Josh Da Silva doubled Arsenal’s lead  just four minutes after Nelson found the back of the net with another lovely free-kick.

The Young Guns have now won three out of their four opening Premier League 2 games.

17-year-old Nelson has been tipped to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Gunners’ first team after the 24-year-old jumped ship to Liverpool at the end of the transfer window.

The forward impressed in pre-season and after scoring six goals in four appearances this season, all eyes are on the young England international.

Last term, Nelson scored 12 goals in 27 appearances and assisted six. The fact that he’s already got to half that tally in a fraction of the time shows how quickly he’s developing and it’s totally understandable that Gooners are champing at the bit to see him play for the first team.

The teenager was calm, confident and professional in pre-season and has obviously taken what he’s learned into the new campaign.

He has two years left on his current deal but you’ve got to imagine that Arsenal will be tying him down to a new one soon.

Before the goal against United, Nelson had already won the Premier League 2 player of the month… could he be on track to win it again for September?
