Arsenal bounced back from their 4-0 defeat at Liverpool with a comfortable win over Bournemouth and two of their goals came from an unlikely hero.

Danny Welbeck was fantastic for Arsenal against the Cherries, scoring a brace and also assisting Alexandre Lacazette’s second goal for the Gunners.

While Gooners love Welbz, the striker has a tendency to not be the most prolific of goalscorers, which he showed against Liverpool. This prompted Twitter to explode an hour ahead of kick-off when the teams were announced.

However, against Bournemouth, it was a different story.

After just four games, the 26-year-old has already surpassed his goal tally for last season (2).

The England international was rated 9.0 on Who Scored, which made him the highest rated player on the pitch.

Welbz had three shots in total, only one was obviously off target, which was more than anyone else in the game, despite only completing 16/22 (73%) of his passes. His average pass accuracy this season has been 77%.

As well as scoring twice and assisting once, Welbz created two chances, completed one dribble, won two aerial duels and a tackle.

It’s not only brilliant that Arsenal won 3-0; Welbz’s performance will give him confidence.

The striker has mentioned before that it’s good to be able to give Arsene Wenger a headache when it comes to team selection. The boss picking him ahead of Alexis Sanchez and then the lad proving him right must be one hell of a feeling.

It also proves that while Alexis was great for Arsenal last season, once he leaves, which he will, the team are more than capable of getting goals from elsewhere. All it takes is for them to pull their finger out.

Although getting played in the right positions probably helped…

After an injury-plagued few years, let’s hope that Danny can stay fit and continue banging in the goals for Arsenal. He deserves it.
