Shkodran Mustafi has poked fun at himself on Instagram after an Arsenal supporter was thrown out of Sunday’s draw with Chelsea for celebrating his offside goal.

After Granit Xhaka whipped in a free-kick, Mustafi appeared to finish it off for Arsenal to score against Chelsea, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. However, Mustafi didn’t realise at the time, neither did an Arsenal fan, who ran onto the pitch to celebrate with him, reports the Daily Mail.

After they saw the offside flag was up, the celebrations were cut short. Mustafi took to Instagram to mock himself, posting a picture of the moment and saying that at least he wasn’t the only one who made that mistake.

From Mustafi’s point of view, he should probably make a point to check the offside flag next time he’s that close to being off. A bit embarrassing but no big deal.

However, from the fan’s point of view, the situation is definitely one to forget. Being arrested, and probably receiving a ban from matches, just so you could celebrate a goal that wasn’t given is probably one of the more stupid things you can do.
