Since Jurgen Klopp took over at Liverpool, the Merseyside club have been the team to beat in the big games, however, Arsenal, surprisingly, don’t have the worst record in that time period.

The Daily Star took a look at how each of the big six teams have done against each other since Klopp’s arrival, and the team in last place was Manchester City, with just 15 points in 18 games.

Arsenal edged ahead of City with 16 points to finish in fifth place on the list.

You’d never expect Arsenal to be ahead of anyone given the media narrative on the Gunners in big games. Plus, with City’s last big game result being a resounding 5-0 win, and Arsenal’s an embarrassing 4-0 loss, it’s a bit of surprise not to see the Gunners at the bottom.

However, City have a habit of beating the smaller teams convincingly and then struggling to do the same in the big matches, like Arsenal.

Both teams need to do much better to get anywhere near Liverpool, who have 36 points from 19 games, but even second placed Chelsea are pretty far behind with 27 points from the same number of matches as Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Arsenal have the chance to stay ahead of City and gain on the other sides when the Gunners face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
