Manchester City are set to have plenty of rivals for the signature of Alexis Sanchez in January, if reports are to be believed.

After almost signing Alexis on deadline day in the summer, City are widely expected to be the club that end up luring the Chilean away from Arsenal. However, with his contract getting closer and closer to its end, other clubs are reportedly now in the running.

The S*n reports that PSG are planning a huge wage offer for Alexis, to add him to their already impressive signings in Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. Then the Daily Star report that Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United are all likely to enter the running in January.

The increased competition is good for Arsenal if the Gunners want to recover at least some of Alexis’ value in January. A bidding war between three or four massive clubs is better than City setting their price and saying ‘take it or leave it’, knowing they can have the Chilean for free in the summer.

On the other hand, it’s obviously worse for Arsenal’s hopes of hanging onto the forward.

Being more appealing to Alexis than PSG, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Chelsea is a pretty tough ask. But at this stage I think there probably aren’t many fans still optimistic enough to believe Sanchez might sign on again.
