Manchester City are still the favourites to sign Alexis Sanchez if he ends up leaving Arsenal, despite Manchester United reportedly joining the race for his signature.

According to the Evening Standard, Manchester City are still the front runners and will make another move to sign Alexis in January. City will make their move as soon as possible to try and prevent the possibility of the 28-year-old joining one of the foreign clubs who can negotiate a pre-contract agreement when the winter windows opens.

The Arsenal and Chile forward is believed to be keen to to link back up with Pep Guardiola, who brought him to Barcelona in the past. The now-City manager clearly rated Alexis highly enough to sign him, and Alexis must have some faith in the Spanish manager if he’s considering signing for a second of Guardiola’s sides, I feel

Alexis has been a long-term target for City more so than United, so it still seems like they would be his more likely destination. However, other clubs like Juventus and Bayern Munich are expected to make contact.

As an Arsenal fan, I just hope all the speculation doesn’t get to Alexis, as it seemed to towards the end of the summer window, in my opinion. Arsenal may hold onto the Chilean until next May, and if so, the club will need him to perform from now until then.
