Olivier Giroud’s partner was the reason why he didn’t move to Everton, claims Charlie Adam.

Stoke midfielder and apparent Everton ITK Charlie Adam believes that Giroud didn’t move to Everton because his partner didn’t want to.

“I heard his partner refused the deal,” Adam said, as reported by the Daily Star.

“The deal was nearly done, he wanted to come, but I heard it was his girlfriend or wife that turned it down.”

Everton reportedly tried to sign Giroud not long after Arsenal confirmed the signing of Alexandre Lacazette.

It was thought that Giroud would leave the club to be a guaranteed starter elsewhere, but he opted to stay and fight for his place instead.

Giroud has a lot of affection for the club and has always been willing to fight for his place in the team no matter who the competition is.

If his partner wanting to remain in London helped keep him at Arsenal, then all the better.

Giroud offers plenty to the Arsenal squad and shouldn’t have to worry about his role in the France team, either.

Despite not being a starter at Arsenal anymore, Didier Deschamps clearly values him and the partnership he has with Antoine Griezmann.

The two linked-up to great effect again in France’s 4-0 win over the Netherlands last night. It was a one-two between the two that led to the Atleitco Madrid forward to opening the scoring.
